Announcing the County of San Mateo Sustainability Academy’s upcoming educational offerings this fall!
1. Home Composting Workshop
Saturday, October 14th, 2017, 10:00 AM – Noon, William E. Walker Recreation Center, 650 Shell Blvd., Foster City
Learn how to easily build backyard and worm composting systems in this introductory workshop! Participants who live in San Mateo County will receive a rebate for a free home backyard/worm bin at the workshop. To register: https://sustainability_academy.eventbrite.com
2. Master Compost and Solid Waste Course
Mondays, October 16th – December 11th, 2017 (excluding Thanksgiving week), 5:45 – 9:15 PM, Shoreway Environmental Center, 333 Shoreway Rd, San Carlos
Become a home composting expert through this 8-week course, and learn how waste is managed in San Mateo County. A 40-hour volunteer commitment is required. Participants will get a choice of taking home a free backyard or vermicomposting bin at the end of course. Participants that attend 7 out of 8 classes will receive select composting accessories (e.g., turning fork, compost thermometer, or worms). 3. Fixit Clinic
Saturday, October 28th, 2017, 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM, 455 County Center, Redwood City
Bring your broken electronics, appliances, toys, bicycles, fabric items, etc. for assessment and possible repair. Fixit Coaches will consult with you to help you disassemble and troubleshoot your items. To register: http://goo.gl/qTzh9J
